LMI for All
LMI for All is an online data portal funded by the Department for Education. It brings together existing national sources of high quality labour market information (LMI) that can inform people’s choices about their careers. LMI for All includes information from key datasets from, for example, the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the Department for Education and HESA.
As part of the LMI for All service, they provide two widgets – Careerometer and Skillsometer. Both widgets have been designed for young people (but can be used by others) to provide an easy way to get access to national labour market information (LMI). We've integrated these widgets into icanbea for your convenience, which you can access using the links provided.
Skillsometer can help you discover what jobs you might like to do in the future by presenting you with a series of job related statements. You then select the emoji that shows how you feel about each statement, until you have been through all of the cards. You will then be given suggestions of jobs linked to what you most enjoy doing. For each job, you will be presented with some headline UK data. If you wish, you can then go on to explore the role further using the Careerometer. (below)
Careerometer can be used to explore and compare key information about occupations, helping you learn about different occupations and identify potential careers. It provides access to a selection of UK headline data relating to pay, weekly hours of work and future employment prospects for different occupations, as well as description of the occupation. Simply type in the title of the job you are interested in and the widget provides a series of options from which you can select the most relevant to you. You can then look up another two occupations and compare. You can also select ‘display the UK average’ and compare the information with the occupation you have selected.
Both the Skills-o-meter and the career-o-meter are widgets provided by the LMI for All project and use national data. Don't forget that you can explore local Norfolk and Suffolk careers information through icanbea... using tools like our own Careers Wizard and Job Ideas database.
