Wiremek are specialists in the Design and Manufacture of LV Switchboards built to 61439-2 CE and UKCA, Energy Management Controls (BMS) Panels, PFC (Power Factor Correction) panels, PDU Panels, Control Panels, ATS/ Mains to Generator Panels.
Main description
Ipswich based Wiremek Ltd require a trainee engineer and panel builder. You will be expected to attend College once a week in term time to acquire your NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installation.
As an apprentice you will be part of a small team working in the office assisting with quoting and CAD drawings. You will learn about wiring switchgear and control panels in our workshop. Full training will be given.
Your main duties are:
Help produce quotes for panels and on-site works
Help design panels
Assemble/construct LV panels and HVAC systems
Help install or modify electrical panels in the workshop or on site
Carry out duties deemed necessary for the smooth running of the business
General
- 39.5 hrs per week. Overtime possible.
- 20 days holiday starting plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days with service.
- One day per week paid to attend college as part of your apprenticeship. Our apprentices have previously taken their courses at Suffolk New College, Ipswich.
- Position can start immediately or after final school/college term has finished. We will also consider apprentices part way through their Electrical Installation course.
- Three month probation period.
- No on-site parking.

If your application is successful, you will have a chance to discuss your relevant prior learning or experience with your training provider and employer. You will all need to agree any adjustments to your training plan.
You should be prepared to show your competence, and evidence of relevant qualifications
On programme learning: Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician Standard Electrotechnical Level 3
English and maths functional skills (if required)
End-point assessment: Delivered by NET Progression: Installation Electrician/Self-employed/Higher level Apprenticeship and Management.
College Attendance: Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Ipswich or Rural Suffolk (Otley) campus for short training courses and tests.
