Lancaster Lodge Childcare Ltd is a family run private children’s day nursery which opened in February 2013. We are located on the edge of the Lancaster Way Business Park, we cater for children from 0-5yrs within 3 separate rooms, Seedlings 0-2yrs, Sunflower's 2-3yrs & Garden Room 3-4yrs. Lancaster Lodge is a homely nursery where children are at the heart of everything we do! We take inspiration from The Curiosity Approach and Hygee. We enjoy exploring the seasons and the natural world!
 

Main description

Lancaster Lodge is a homely nursery where children are at the heart of everything we do! We are looking for individuals to join our team to support the growth of the nursery! We provide a warm and welcoming working environment, social staffing events, uniform, competitive wage and opportunities for further training and enhancement of training

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work
An average working day will involve you meeting and greeting children and their parents, providing care in accordance with the child’s care needs and the daily routine, providing and supporting a range of activities and opportunities both indoors and outdoors for children to learn and develop through play and discovery,  key working with a small number of children alongside the child’s buddy (2nd key person) and supporting the team in day-to-day tasks including risk assessments and caring for the environment. Care plans take place, such as nappy changing, bottle feeding and assisting the children in settling to sleep, as well as the educational plans

Training to be provided

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training course
Early years practitioner (level 2) Equal to GCSE

Your training plan
The apprentice will come to Cambridge Regional College once a week and then work alongside a work mentor in the nursery 

  • Paediatric First Aid- Full Certificate
  • Basic Child Protection Training- Certificate
  • There are additional courses that would be provided to support both the apprentice and the nursery.
  • These may include things like further safeguarding courses, training around specific age ranges, babies, 2-3’s or preschool, further training around how children learn, for example, schema’s and how to support these.

Entry requirements

Essential qualifications
GCSE in: English (grade 3 or D) and Maths (grade 3 or D)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

If the applicant has the grades and ability to do the Early Years Educator they will be consider to be signed up to the Early Years Educator level 3

Future prospects

A level 2 Early Years Practitioner can progress further in their Early Years career to an unlimited range of roles with the correct further training and experience.

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
