Main description
Become part of a small team of skilled craftsmen where we will take time to pass our carpentry knowledge and experience to you. You will gain experience working on every aspect of carpentry, from timber framing and roofing, to hanging doors and fitting kitchens. Our priority is to give you the opportunity to become a highly skilled carpenter.
What you’ll do at work
The typical day starts at 07.30 where you will work alongside one of the carpenters. You will assist them with the tasks for the day gaining the skills and experience to use hand and power tools under supervision.
Training to be provided
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan
The practical training period of the Carpentry apprenticeship is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours for which includes the following components:
On-programme assignments and assessments
Practical assessments
Workplace portfolio of evidence
English and Maths at Level 1 must be achieved and take the English and Maths test at Level 2.
Day release at Cambridge campus (1-day) and working alongside qualified, friendly and a small team of professionally trained/ experienced Carpenters (4-days per week).
The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the college, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence. The knowledge side would be provided via day release workshop attendance, assignments, evidence of workplace competence. Portfolio would be checked via an online Smart Assessor.
Upon successfully completing the apprenticeship, you will be awarded and NVQ level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery.
Entry Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in: English (grade 3/D) and Maths (grade 3/D)
Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

The applicant should be prepared to work in the variety of weather conditions seen throughout the seasons.
Must hold a CSCS Card before staring work (this can be arranged if not already registered).
The planned start date of apprenticeship will be Autumn 2025; however the employer would be able to offer employment as from late Spring/ Summer 2025 for the successful applicant.
Future prospects
Once the apprenticeship period has been completed, you will spend time honing, perfecting and building on the skill sets learned.
