About Us
Wayland Farms Ltd is one of the largest, outdoor reared pig producers in the United Kingdom. Based in Norfolk in East Anglia, utilising the light free draining soils and relatively dry climate, our business operates a closed breeding herd and prides itself on its high health status, professional management and absolute focus on the highest standards of pig welfare.
All our pigs are reared outdoors and then moved into large straw filled, naturally ventilated barns. We own a number of in house finishing farms, however we also have a large number of local contract pig finishers and always have opportunities for local farmers across East Anglia who would like to diversify into pig farming.
ANIMAL HEALTH AND WELFARE - OUR RESPONSIBILITY
We work closely with our farmers and landowners to meet rigorously high standards of animal welfare, through excellent sanitation, nutrition and housing practices which support the health and well being of our pigs, all of which are raised to Red Tractor standards and RSPCA Freedom Food Assured standards.
As all of our own units and third party producers are based in Norfolk and Suffolk, there is minimal travel involved, further improving welfare standards.
We are able to further improve welfare standards through the employment of our own dedicated Wayland vet who travels between our farms ensuring continuity of care and that animal health remains paramount. Our farms are independently audited on an annual basis by accredited, highly experienced individuals and we are proud to have been awarded the highest performance ranking of Tier One in the global Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare standards (BBFAW) for the third consecutive year, cementing our position as a global leader in the sector.
