The low-carbon offshore access specialists

At Tidal Transit, we are pioneering electric-powered access, transport, and crew transfer services for offshore energy sector of the UK and Europe.

From our headquarters on the North Norfolk coast, we own and operate a fleet of crew transfer vessels which with each generation become more energy efficient. We work with partners to design, build, retrofit and run fully electrify crew transport and charging infrastructure.

Our mission is to propel the offshore wind industry into a new net zero era by driving technological innovation in sustainable and decarbonised crew transport in the North Sea and beyond.

What can be done electrically, should be done electrically

Electric crew transfer vessels, or E-CTVs, offer the same safety standards of any diesel-powered boat and can carry an equal load, yet they:

  • Benefit from much higher reliability with lower maintenance costs.
  • Are more comfortable for crew (without noise and vibrations from a turning engine).
  • Benefit from significant noise reduction for people and wildlife above the water and marine life beneath.
  • Most importantly, generate zero operational carbon emissions.

We believe that the solution to a fully decarbonised offshore wind sector lies in using the electricity produced to transport crew. As such, we’re working tirelessly to research, develop and engineer the electric fleet of the future.

But electric crew transfer vessels (E-CTVs) are nothing without a strong charging infrastructure to back them up, so we’re also developing an offshore battery charging system which allows vessels to plug directly into a wind turbine and charge on location.

We have a number of ongoing projects which will accelerate the journey to net zero for offshore wind.

Services

Our transit services are suitable during all phases of the project including planning, survey, construction and cable-laying, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

Typical roles:

  • Fast, safe and comfortable transfer of personnel
  • Transport of tools, equipment and spares
  • Delivery of fuel and consumables
  • Survey work
  • Accommodation, catering and facilities during rest breaks
  • Offshore base for site-meetings, planning, project management
  • Diving station
  • Services to all types of marine installation such as oil rigs etc

Our fleet includes category 1 vessels that allow us to work at up to 150 miles from a safe haven and can stay at sea for more than 24 hours. With bunks, showers, toilets and fully-equipped commercial grade kitchen we provide wholesome hot and cold meals for staff where required.

Our experienced, fully-committed and qualified crew members are based locally and are employed directly by us so there are no ‘hidden’ travel or accommodation costs for clients.

Our state-of-the-art, no-compromise workboats were specified and designed specifically to serve the arduous demands of the offshore wind energy industry.

Our fleet

Our fleet of custom-built, high specification wind farm work boats offer unparalleled speed, stability, safety and efficiency, crewed by fully qualified personnel with a deep local knowledge, marine engineering and maritime experience.

Offering a comfortable and secure journey for crew, even in challenging sea conditions, our custom built multi-functional fleet provides a reassuring and welcome base for personnel during transfer, transit and rest breaks.

At the heart of our transfer operations is our fleet of specially designed no-compromise workboats.

We have created the ultimate no-compromise workboat, specifically designed to serve the demands of the North Sea wind energy industry.

These boats have been developed to out-perform other vessels, especially in our short, steep seas. With a cruising speed of 25 knots (fully laden) in most weather, they are almost unstoppable and work safely in seas of up to 2.5m. The large fore and aft cargo decks are equipped with cranes for loading and unloading. Modern, comfortable accommodation is provided for up to twelve passengers.
