About the Prince's Trust

We believe that every young person should have the chance to succeed. So, we help 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to transform their lives. More than three in four will achieve a positive outcome, moving into jobs, education and training.

How we support young people

Many of the young people we help are in, or leaving, care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law.

The Trust has returned £1.4 billion in value to society through our help for disadvantaged young people over the last ten years alone.

Our free programmes give young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. We help them develop key skills while boosting their confidence and motivation.

Our UK 2018-2023 strategy lays out the direction of The Prince’s Trust. We plan to help one million more young people to transform their lives over the next 10 years. We will help them develop the confidence and skills to live, to learn and to earn, giving them an increasing stake in our economy and society.

Volunteer for us

Around 90% of our people are volunteers and secondees; we simply couldn’t achieve what we do without their dedication and commitment. Find out more about becoming a volunteer and the range of roles available here.

With the commitment of our volunteers, we are able to offer a support network to young people facing significant barriers to employment, education or training.

We’ve always been reliant on dedicated volunteers like you to help us in our mission of turning the lives of young people around. Whether you’re helping in our offices and centres or working one-to-one with young people, your support can have a powerful impact and long lasting effects.

Use the filter on our volunteers page to explore the roles available in your region. If you find a role you’re interested in, we’d love to hear from you – simply fill in our enquiry form, telling us the role you’d like to apply for, and we’ll be in touch with you soon.

For the majority of roles, you don't need to have any experience, specialist skills or qualifications. The qualities we look for in our volunteers are:

  • Reliability
  • Ability to relate to and empathise with young people and their aspirations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially listening skills
  • Ability to be non-judgemental, self-aware, patient, understanding, flexible, positive and supportive in all situations
  • Ability to challenge own assumptions and negativity
