About Us
Welcome to Headway Suffolk
the charity that supports people with brain injury, stroke, neurological conditions and those who care for them.
Headway Suffolk is a registered charity in England (no.1075338) that offers advice, support, rehabilitation and support services to anyone (over the age of 16) who has, during their lifetime, sustained a brain injury through traumatic accident, stroke, virus, tumour, neurological condition or other similar event.
We have neuro hubs based in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, and our service is offered to those in the areas of Suffolk and south Norfolk.
Volunteering
Headway Suffolk places a huge deal of importance on the role that volunteers offer our service and the benefits gained by our clients.
The individual focus, time and support that a volunteer can give is of immense value and goes a long way in a person’s rehabilitation progress.
Our base of volunteers has a rich mixture of people coming from all walks of life, with various life experiences to draw upon and some with great knowledge and expertise in a particular field.
However, what everyone has in common is their enthusiasm, dedication and a sheer willingness to support an individual focus on their aspirations and goals in life.
This could be through specific one-to-one sessions, or part of our many ongoing activities, such as gardening, cookery or art, or accessing community resources, for example.
Careers
Apprenticeships
Headway Suffolk has employed health and social care and admin apprentices for about 10 years.
Some of our apprentices now hold senior positions within Headway Suffolk. Twice we have gained apprentice of the year. We are very proud of our apprentices and work with them to gain their qualification and to go on to be excellent carers.
We guarantee all our apprentices a permanent job at the end of their apprenticeship, whether that is in our hubs or out in community.
