Team Godolphin
The world’s largest horseracing team was named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian, who came from the desert to become one of the three founding fathers of the modern thoroughbred. Today, Team Godolphin spans four continents with Sheikh Mohammed as the driving force. Godolphin’s headquarters are in Dubai and the team has horses in training in Australia, Japan, France, Ireland, the UK and the US.
Charitable Programmes
Success may be defined on the racetrack but beyond the headlines there is so much more to the world of Godolphin. From supporting our local communities to sponsoring educational and vocational programmes, Godolphin seeks to create awareness, passion and care for the thoroughbred and nurture both our industry and the people that surround us.
While horses may be at the heart of our business – and we will ensure that they are nurtured from birth to retirement and beyond – it is vital that all those involved in the equine world are cared for too. Godolphin is there for trainers, jockeys, grooms, racetrack supporters, members of our local community or simply those who are keen to make a life with horses.

UK Facilities
Moulton Paddocks, Newmarket
Moulton Paddocks is one of Godolphin’s two training yards in Newmarket, UK, and is home to trainer Charlie Appleby.
With a racing pedigree that stretches back to the 19th century, this historic yard is now a state-of-the-art training establishment, complete with private grass and all-weather gallops, a swimming pool and an equine spa. Moulton Paddocks has been part of the Godolphin story since 1994, and sent out 90 G1 winners in its first decade.
Dalham Hall Stud, Newmarket
In 1981, Sheikh Mohammed purchased Dalham Hall Stud which lies on the outskirts of Newmarket, Suffolk – the historic home of thoroughbred horse racing, and now Godolphin's international headquarters. Sheikh Mohammed bought the estate from Laurence Philipps, a shipping magnate, who established what became known as Dalham Hall Stud.
Dalham Hall Stud is split into two parts, with one part used as a private stud for Godolphin mares and their progeny, and the other comprising the stallion unit and stallion paddocks, home to the Darley stallions.
Godolphin Stables, Newmarket
Godolphin Stables was formerly known as Stanley House stables and is one of the most famous racing establishments in the world. The stables were built by Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, in 1903 and originally named Stanley House stables after Lord Derby's nearby house.
The stables are a state-of-the-art training yard with a swimming pool, sea walker, equine spas and private grass and all-weather gallops. The summer base of trainer Saeed bin Suroor, Godolphin Stables has capacity for up to 115 horses.
Wellbottom, Newmarket
Built in 2012, and set within the historic grounds of Moulton Paddocks lies Wellbottom yard, our specialist equine sales preparation facility.
Horses reaching the end of their career with Godolphin are sent to Wellbottom. Here they are turned out in paddocks to relax, exercised and prepared for a second career with whichever trainer is fortunate enough to purchase them at auction.
Pre-training, Newmarket
Shadowfax Yard and Craven House together make up our Pre-training facility. Acquired in 2005 and totalling 56 acres, our Pre-training Yard is a prep school for horses.
Horses are welcomed from our stud farms and are taught the many skills needed to be a successful racehorse. A combination of groundwork, swimming, schooling and riding ensure all horses are in the perfect physical and psychological condition to enter full-scale training in a busy racing yard.
