About us
Enhance EHC provides specialist EHCP* writing services and expert guidance and training for Local Authorities, education providers and other SEND professionals involved in the education, health and care plan process. We hire and train remote workers nationally.
*An education, health and care plan (EHCP) is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support. EHC plans identify educational, health and social needs and set out the additional support to meet those needs.
We are the largest and longest established EHCP support service in the UK. We have been providing support with SEND documentation to over half of the Local Authorities (LAs) in England since 1996.
Our support includes online EHCP training, plan writing and quality assurance services, which help SEND teams and other professionals throughout the EHCP assessment and review process.
Through our long history of working with LAs, and our extensive experience of writing plans and training writers, we are able to share good practice for all those involved in the EHCP process.
Now in our 27th year, we remain dedicated to supporting and collaborating with SEND professionals to help children and young people with SEND reach their potential, and are hugely excited about what the future may hold!
Services
We provide EHC plan writing support to Local Authority SEND teams. Plan writing is a time-consuming process that involves turning up to 100 pages of varied information into a consistent and coherent document, both addressing all the areas of need and complying with the SEND Code of Practice. Our service enables caseworkers to avoid being buried under paperwork and instead be able to spend quality time with young people and families.
We generate a clear and concise summary of the information provided, which facilitates the process and helps it to be completed within statutory guidelines, despite the highly variable workflow. We do this in a cost efficient and timely way, with the skill gained from over 27 years’ experience in this field.
Our range of services incorporates Quality Assurance, which offers independent monitoring and analysis from a national perspective.
We also offer support for education providers and SEND professionals through our online EHCP training and resources. Our Enhance Your Skills Online EHCP Training is based on over 27 years of experience training education, health and care plan (EHCP) writers and supporting Local Authorities, and our oversight of best practice across the country. All of our training courses are online distance learning, so courses can be started, paused and resumed at any stage, enabling each learner to work at their own pace. Learners work through online learning material and demonstrate understanding through quizzes, tests, activities and/or assignments, depending on the course. > Find out more.
We understand that the legislation around SEND is lengthy and complex, and that the variety of information available online around EHC plans is overwhelming. That’s why we also offer a free EHCP guidance document for parents/carers, or anyone supporting families through the EHCP assessment, planning and review process. The guidance provides clear information about the key legal requirements of EHC plans, what should be expected for a child/young person’s assessment and plan, and where to find further support.
Opportunities
From a company of one, producing 12 SEND documents per month in 1996, we are now a 48-strong team providing specialist EHCP writing services and expert guidance and training to multiple stakeholders.
We hire and train remote workers nationally, and currently employ several staff members from the Suffolk and Norfolk regions.
As the largest and longest established SEND document support company in the UK, our mission is to provide SEND professionals with services and products to improve the quality and consistency of all documents involved in the education, health and care plan (EHCP) process.
Although I have only recently started working for this service I have already begun seeing the benefits of the flexible working pattern Enhance offers the writers. I am able to work around my family commitments and have no childcare costs or difficulties to contend with. I can work at whatever time is convenient for me and at whatever pace suits me, enabling me to fit in social arrangements and school events for example, and the flexibility helps with those unexpected things that life sometimes throws at you! ”

We were humbled when the results of an anonymous staff survey in 2020 said that 100% of our staff would recommend us to others as a great place to work. In addition, roughly a quarter of our team have been with us for over 10 years!
Our flexible employment, training and career progression opportunities in the SEND sector are ideal for individuals who may otherwise face economic or other barriers to accessing work, such as those with caring responsibilities, those with special educational needs or disabilities, those with long-term physical and mental health conditions, and those who cannot commute to a workplace - due to (e.g.) rural isolation or lack of own transport. We also provide part-time remote work opportunities for students, offering them valuable working experience and training them in skills transferable into the wider work environment.
