About Bright Dog Training
I'm Emily, the founder of Bright Dog Training, based in Thetford. I'm a dog trainer and freelance writer for canine publications.
Training should be fun and enjoyable, for both owners and their dog! Working also as a therapist in the NHS, my skills are not only in dog behaviour and training but in people too! I have an empathic and non-judgemental approach to help people achieve their canine goals. I am here to support and guide them to get the best from their dog - after all, it's the owners that I'll be teaching more than their dog!
Common unwanted behaviours include:
Puppy and adolescent dog behaviours, mouthing, settling in a new dog, chewing, guarding, rehoming a rescue dog, loose-lead walking, exuberance reactivity, aggression, attention-seeking, over-arousal, recall, jumping up, confidence building, toilet training, strengthening the dog-guardian relationship... Whatever the problem, my clients can get in touch to agree an individualised plan for their dog.
A bit about me:
I have lived with dogs all my life and have worked in dog rescue for 3 years. I have completed IMDT courses in dog behaviour and training, and am currently undergoing a level 5 diploma in dog behaviour.
I'm a student member of the International Society of Animal Professionals (ISAP), and approved professional member of both the Dog Welfare Alliance (DWA) and International Companion Animal Network. I am also a member of Professional Dog Businesses UK.
I run a podcast called 'The Dog Heroes' about all things dog, with my training and behaviour colleagues Emma Colclough and Rae Waldon-Harris. I am a feature writer for national Edition Dog magazine.
Finally, I offer CPD workshops to veterinary clinics and colleges in dog training and behaviour."
