About us

4YP works with 7-25 year-olds at our Ipswich town centre hub, in schools and out in the community.

Since it was founded in 2000, 4YP has provided a generic wraparound support for young people which is determined by their individual needs along with a range of clinical and therapeutic services for young people with identified poor mental health and wellbeing.

Our vision is that all children and young people have:

• SOMEWHERE SAFE to go,
• SOMETHING POSITIVE to do and
• SOMEONE TRUSTED to connect and journey with.

At our hub we provide a counselling service, youth work 1:1s, open access drop-ins and needs-tailored small groups.

In schools, 4YP provide tailored services to meet the individual needs of each school, comprising onsite counsellors and youth workers, youth social prescribing and extended programmes during academic holidays. 4YP is currently operating across 18 schools.

Counselling - We provide young people with a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space to explore their feelings, their thinking and behaviours and help them to work through their problems.

Youth Work - From drop-ins and youth clubs, to outreach and detached work, 4YP provides safe places to be, positive things to do with someone that can be trusted. The 4YP Youth Team is ready to provide help and support… however the young person needs it.

4YP at school - 4YP At School is a bespoke service, tailored to the individual needs of each school, which draws on 4YP’s expertise to supply counselling and/or youth work onsite services.

Volunteering is an enjoyable and enriching experience. Not only are you helping others, you can also develop and learn new skills, improve your emotional well-being, discover new interests and make friends.

Young People's Counsellor - Provide short term counselling to young people aged 12 – 25 (with emphasis on solution focused brief therapy). For specifically targeted projects the age range may be 7 and upward, any work of this nature will be discussed in advance with the counsellor and will be specific to the counsellor’s skills, training, and experience.
