Job Description
Wall and floor tilers will fit tiles for different areas which could include home bathrooms or kitchens as well as rooms in restaurants, shops and hotels. You could also be involved in commercial work such as swimming pools and mosaics. Materials used could include ceramic, stone, glass, plastic, marble and granite.

You can get into this job through:
Apprenticeship
You can get into this career through a wall and floor tiling intermediate apprenticeship.
You'll usually need some GCSEs, usually including English and maths, or equivalent, for an intermediate apprenticeship.

Work
You may be able to start as a site labourer and do further training on the job to qualify as a tiler.
More Information
You'll need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card or equivalent to train and work on a construction site

With experience and extra training, you could become a site supervisor, clerk of works or contract manager.
You could also work as a trainer and assessor on tiling courses or set up your own business.
