A Thermal Imaging Surveyor or Thermographer, conducts thermographic surveys using thermal imaging cameras on buildings, mechanical and electrical systems. Inefficient domestic and commercial building insulation drastically increases the amount of energy required to heat or cool our living and working spaces, so thermal imaging is increasingly important to identify issues which can be addressed to save energy. As a thermographer you will conduct surveys, before presenting reports that highlight thermal issues and make recommendations on how to address them. You will also be responsible for maintaining and operating the survey equipment.
To become a Thermal Imaging Surveyor, you will need passes in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) and ideally additional passes in other relevant level 2/3 subjects like Engineering, Built Environment or Technology. Apprenticeships may be available and an understanding of insulation, construction techniques and heating and electrical systems will provide a distinct advantage to accessing your first role.
Salary range £25,000-£40,000
