A Landscape Architect will design and plan open spaces, this could be a green space within a city where people work, live and relax or where animals and plants can live and thrive. They will work will other professionals such as town planners, architects and civil engineers to create something that is sustainable and looks good.
Entry Requirements
You could get into this role through a university or college course
University
You could get a degree in a relevant subject such as:
- landscape architecture
- garden design
- landscape design and technology
- landscape planning
- environmental conservation
If you already have a degree in a related subject like architecture, horticulture or botany, you may be able to take an Landscape Institute accredited postgraduate course.
You will usually need two or three A levels or equivalent for a degree
College
A college course could help you to start out in training towards this role, relevant courses include:
- Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Landscape Construction
- Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture
You will usually need four or five GCSE's at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent for a level 3 course

Career Path and Progression
