A development engineer will design new products or improve existing ones. They will use computer-aided design(CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to design technical plans for prototypes and analyse data from testing. They will also make modifications to designs and present reports to project managers and clients.
You will usually need a foundation degree, high national diploma or a degree to become a development engineer. You may be able to get in through a degree (Level 6) apprenticeship.
Expected salary range £24k (entry level) to £50k experienced
