Job Description

A barista is someone that specialises in making coffee and other beverages. They will usually work in a coffee shop, restaurant, cafe or hotel.

Entry Requirements

You can get into this job through:

College

You could do a college course like Food and Beverage Service Level 2.

You will need 3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) including English and/or maths.

The following local colleges offer courses in Food and Beverage Service:

Or your local 6th form may offer a relevant course.

Apprenticeship

You can train through a hospitality team member intermediate apprenticeship.

This will usually take 12 months to complete. You'll do on-the-job training and spend time at a college or training provider.

You'll usually need 3 GCSEs, usually including English and maths, or equivalent, for an intermediate apprenticeship (Level 2).
