Main description
Do you want to become a qualified Pharmacy Assistant? Are you serious about a career in health care / medicine? This role is ideal for anyone who has a genuine passion for working within the health care sector and is keen to learn and progress in their own professional development.
- Taking in and handing out prescriptions, learning to dispense prescriptions
- Using dispensary and stores computer systems to generate stock lists and labels
- Helping to maintain reasonable dispensary stock levels, stock control, date checking and stock rotation
- Ordering items for use within a department, Selling over the counter medicines
- Receiving, loading, unloading incoming goods from wholesalers, manufacturers and elsewhere
- Answering queries on the supply and availability of medicines
- Responding to telephone and face to face enquiries of a routine nature
- Drawing any problems identified or queries raised to the attention of pharmacists or pharmacy technicians
- Pre-packing, assembling and labelling medicines
- Ensuring that health and safety requirements are met
- Learning the till procedures and handling of cash, check monies and change in the till
- Disposal of stock returned by patient’s i.e. Special waste as per PCT of the area
- Ensuring workplace is clean and tidy, to complete any other task as requested
Entry requirements
GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade 4/C) Desired
