Main description
As an Electrical Apprentice, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in a variety of environments. These systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning, metering equipment, and renewable energy technologies.
You will also work on crime and fire alarm systems. Ensuring electrical safety is a core part of your responsibilities, and you must adhere to safe working practices to protect yourself and others.
What you’ll be doing:
On completion of your apprenticeship, your key responsibilities will include:
• Understanding and applying principles, practices, and legislation for terminating and connecting conductors, cables, and cords in electrical systems
• Preparing and installing wiring systems and electro-technical equipment in buildings, structures, and environmental settings
• Applying electrical principles to the design, building, installation, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
• Working from drawings and scopes of work
• Following company health and safety rules and ensuring compliance with all processes and procedures

Entry requirements
To apply for this apprenticeship, you should have attained GCSEs at Level 5 (C grade or equivalent), including Mathematics, English, and a Science subject.

Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
