Employer Description

Long Stratton Medical Partnership is a rural practice based over 2 sites with a patient list of around 11,500. The Dispensary is a very busy department with a team consisting of 2 x Senior Dispensers, 6 x Dispensers and 2 x Dispensing clerks.

Main description

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Dispenser to join our Dispensary Team.

Main duties include:

Processing patient Acute & Repeat medication
Ensuring the correct labelling of drugs & medicines
Dispensing drugs & medications to patients
Collect all due prescription charges
Endorse all prescription forms as appropriate
Operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice

Entry requirements

Standard GCSE qualifications in Math & English, grades 4-9  - Desired.

Communication skills
Attention to detail
Initiative
Team working

Training to be Provided

The learner will be studying the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Things to consider

A very busy high pressurized department, where good communication skills, high attention to detail and working under pressure skills are essential. Good team working is also essential

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of the course there may be the possibility of a long-term contract.
