Geosense Ltd supplies geotechnical monitoring instruments to the civil engineering sector worldwide. They are currently looking for a CNC Machinist apprentice.
Main description
To train in all aspects of the machine shop environment.
To gain experience in manual machining and then progressing onto CNC machining, including turning and milling Operating manual Lathes and Mill.
You will be:
• Operating CNC Lathes and Mill
• Using technical measuring equipment to inspect machined components
• Working to ensure that health and safety procedures are followed
• Learning to model and import components using 3D CAD/CAM software
• Monitoring tool wear during cycles
• Spot checking parts during machine cycles
• Loading of material into machine/bar feed
• Cutting and handling of raw materials
• Deburring of machine parts
• Maintenance of machine fluids
• Basic maintenance of machine tools
• Machine shop housekeeping
• Undertaking any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business
Entry requirements
GCSE grades 5-9 in Maths and English - Essential.

Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held
