About Music, Visual and Performing Arts
There are many different careers that fall under this category from composers and vocalists to dancers, choreographers, actors, directors and producers and much much more.
Whichever discipline you decide upon, you will need to be creative, artistic and have the determination to excel in your specialism.
The industry is very competitive and you may have to start at the bottom but if you have the passion, drive and commitment, this could be your chance to earn money from doing something that you love to do.
Make sure you get involved in school and local productions which will give you valuable experience and confidence when looking for opportunities.
Our region provides excellent opportunities for budding actors and musicians from courses and training at college to specific performing arts centres such as DanceEast as well as Access to Music Norwich.
Performing Arts courses at both the University of East Anglia and Norwich City College were the starting point for some famous faces; including Matt Smith (Dr Who) Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Carribbean, Me Before You) and Greg James (Radio 1).
If you're looking to be behind the stage rather than on it there are plenty of theatres and arts centres in the county, volunteering at these can be a great way to try out new roles before deciding on a career path.
If you love performing in front of others and like to be the centre of attention, this could be the career for you.
