Suffolk Cricket Limited (SCL) is one of 39 County Cricket Boards, across England and Wales. Its primary funder is the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), which has committed to another 4 years (2025 – 2028 inclusively) of funding through the latest strategy, entitled “Inspiring Generations”. Working with the ECB, SCL have developed a County Partnership Agreement (CPA) Plan, which strategically shows the priorities and organisations that SCL will engage with over this period. One of the key principles is to connect with communities and inspire future generations to say “cricket is a game for all”.

SCL the result of a merger between Suffolk Cricket Board Limited and Suffolk County Cricket Club.

All cricketing activity in Suffolk is now administered by SCL which delegates the running of men’s and women’s county teams to a County Cricket Committee.

Main description

We’re looking to recruit a Women & Girls Officer initially for one year to provide maternity cover, however this will be reviewed after 6 months, with possibility to extend beyond this period to a similar role.

With a new CPA agreement starting in 2025, we’re looking for the right person to join Suffolk Cricket Limited in bringing our plans to fruition.

Role Overview

Women and Girls cricket is an integral aspect of Suffolk Cricket Limited ongoing and future strategic plans. We are firmly committed to providing an environment for all women and girls to enjoy cricket.

The role will involve leading on supporting and developing women and girls’ cricket in Suffolk, primarily within schools, clubs and local communities.

You will also be expected to work with amongst others the ECB, neighbouring counties and other organisations to ensure a collaborative approach, which will help and lead to further opportunities for women and girls to either volunteer and / or play cricket.

We particularly welcome applications from minoritised and under-represented groups – at SCL this applies particularly to women, disabled people and those from minority ethnic community.

Specific Responsibilities

· Strategic leadership on the women and girls’ participation programmes, in conjunction with Cricket Operations Manager and other members of the SCL Development Team

· Help formulate an action plan to grow women and girls' participation and volunteering across Suffolk

· Increase the number of clubs that provide a W&G offer (girls, women’s, softball, hardball, e.g.)

· Influence and lead clubs to offer a W&G programme (including playing, coaching, umpiring and volunteering opportunities)

· Work with new and existing W&G clubs to pull together appropriate individual development plans

· Support Women and Girls volunteer growth (Coach Education, Officiating, Welfare and Courses)

· Conduct 1-2-1 and group meetings with clubs.

· Organise and execute Girls Secondary School cricket programme and Indoor Girls cricket competitions

· Develop key stakeholder relationships (e.g. Active Suffolk, Girlguiding, Local authorities, other sports etc)

· Continue organisation and running of Women’s Softball Cricket Festivals, Leagues and Finals Day

· Continue to develop and grow Girls cricket across the county, through festivals, leagues and school engagement

· Respond to emails and phone calls.

Entry requirements

Mandatory:

· A passion for getting more women and girls active

· Awareness of the barriers to getting more W&G active

· Willingness and confidence to challenge established thinking

· Clean drivers license

· Core coach (or equivalent) or higher coaching qualification by January 2025 (available for winter 2024 core coach course if currently do not meet this)

· Ability to think innovatively and develop appropriate solutions

· Professional approach

· Work to agreed county and national targets

Desired:

· Knowledge of cricket and/or sports club environment

· Experience in conducting 1-2-1 and group meetings

· Good IT, planning, organizational and communication skills

· Ability to broker new relationships

· Ability to work independently and/or part of a team (as required)

· Adaptable and persistent
