A new footbridge in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire that a Jackson team has constructed on behalf of Calderdale Council was officially opened this week.

Jackson appointed Beaver Bridges as the main subcontractor on this £1.3m project, which saw the old footbridge removed and then the two sections of the new footbridge lowered into place by crane.

The new concrete, glass and steel structure, which has a waterproof, anti-slip surface, was designed by Atkins Global to complement the historic Grade II-listed road bridge it is attached to. It also ties in with adjacent flood walls, which are part of Mytholmroyd Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The bridge opened to the public on Wednesday after local businessperson, Jo Ward from Jo’s Kitchen, located next to the bridge, cut a ribbon. Members of the public then congregated on the bridge to mark this significant milestone.
