Specific skills required:

Bower Fuller works within the Construction industry for new build and refurbishment projects.

We provide building services to various types of buildings (Hospitals, schools, offices, laboratories, public buildings) which include heating, ventilation, electrical works etc, which are quite science based, so a student interested in maths and physics would be of interest to us, however the ability to write is paramount for correspondence and reports.

Below is a short resume of our Management Trainee, ultimately becoming a building services engineer, project manager, design engineer etc. The training details is below and currently via London South Bank University on a day release basis to study for a HND apprenticeship in Building Services.

Main description

Bower Fuller Management Trainee Programme - Ipswich based:

Our Trainee programme is in place to develop the future engineers and mangers of our business.

Our Management Trainees will attend university, currently London South Bank University on a day release basis to study for a HND apprenticeship in Building Services. Fees are paid by the business.

At least six-monthly progress reviews with a senior manager/director will provide valuable opportunities to discuss progress against objectives and training plans whilst learning from industry experts.

Upon completion of the programme, which usually takes approximately 4 years, the Management Trainee will progress to the next tier of management in one of our departments.

Department rotation:

Our Management Trainees will develop all round knowledge, skills and abilities by spending time on a rotation basis in various departments of the business.

The departments include:

  • Bid Management
  • Design
  • Estimating
  • Project Management and Programming
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Site Supervision

Mentors:

In each department, the Management Trainee will work under the supervision of a designated training mentor who will share their expertise and provide guidance in the various disciplines.

Reporting to:
Divisional Director and Operations Manager

Location:

Bower Fuller Head Office in Ipswich with visits to our Southern Office in Dartford and various sites that we would be working at throughout East Anglia and London

Entry requirements

Looking for candidates that have good results in Maths, English and Physics at GCSE and A Level/Level 3

Personal attributes:

  • Strong GCSE results and either have or expect to achieve good A level results or equivalent vocational qualifications.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build a good working relationship with office/site-based colleagues, clients and external workers to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to develop leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to meet the business needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage changing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
