JT Wilding Ltd are a well-established heating and plumbing company, delivering maintenance, breakdown repairs and new installations for domestic and commercial clients. Specialising in the provision and servicing of oil and gas fired heating systems.

Main description

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Assisting engineers on a daily basis with plumbing, servicing and breakdowns.
Assisting engineers on a daily basis with heating and boiler installations.
Gaining sufficient knowledge in order to become a multi-skilled plumbing & heating engineer.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training course
Plumbing and domestic heating technician (level 3) Equal to A level

The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship Standard for a duration of 48 months.
College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus) one day per week during term time. 

Qualifications;

Diploma in plumbing and domestic heating (for all apprentices)
Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) Assessments CCN1 and CENWAT (to be completed by apprentices following the domestic gas fired hot water heating appliances option)

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

maths and English (grade 4)

Must be able to drive as the role involves travelling between job sites in and around the Ipswich/Martlesham Heath areas.
