ATL is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory (2262) and covers a myriad of analytical tests and services, including food, compost, effluents, digestate, water, animal feed and many more.

Main description

Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company, providing a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, to make life and our environment safer, healthier and more sustainable. Thay are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician apprentice to join their team.

Main Duties:

• Undertaking all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given to you by team leaders and management.

• Registration, preparation, and analysis of samples as required.

• Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.

• Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.

• Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.

• Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.

• Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn, assisting through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.

• Maintain a clean as you go mentality.

• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Entry requirements

5 or more GCSEs, including Maths and English at grades 4 or above - Essential.
Experience in working in part of a team - Desirable.

Training to be Provided

The learner will be studying the Laboratory Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Things to consider

Please note the role can be quite repetitive and requires candidates to be on their feet for long periods of time. This is a fast-paced environment therefore the candidates need to work well under pressure.

Future Prospects

In the future, this could lead to a Line Leader/Team Leader position or relocation to any Eurofins scope within the UK and overseas.
