Employer Description
We are a groundwork contractor established in November 2001 based in Suffolk with sites based around Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and, occasionally, further afield. We are part of Landmark Group (EA) Ltd. On site we are responsible for everything from the ground level down which can include footings and foundations, drainage and other buried services, slabbing, block paving, concrete flooring and road surfacing. This is achieved through a variety of work including working by hand as well as using mobile plant such as excavators, dumpers and road rollers.
Main description
This role is essential for the day to day operations of our construction sites, allowing us to complete work in a timely manner. Your main contacts will be the company Directors, although you will be working with experienced Groundworkers on a day to day basis to support your development.
Main duties include:
- Attendance to college one day per week
- Attend site at the required times
- Work with experienced groundworkers to complete works as required on site and in line with your college syllabus
- Work with hand tools to complete work as required by the company directors
- Engage with additional training as required by the company to assist your development
- Work in line with company health and safety policy and procedure ensuring your safety and the safety of others on site
- You will work on site with seasoned and experienced groundworkers, and may need to move from one team to another to facilitate your development, or to meet the needs of the business.
Entry requirements
While there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position the below would be advantageous:
Grades 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths
Driving licence and means of transport
Any construction related qualifications or experience
Skills required

Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
Things to consider
You will be expected to work outdoors all year round including summer and winter, and in most weather conditions provided that it is safe to do so. You will be expected to travel from site, although where possible, we will make arrangement to make this as easy as possible.
Future Prospects
On successful completion of the apprenticeship you may be offered full-time employment as a Groundworker with our company.
