Boyton Hall is a training and competition facility with dressage and showjumping clients. They are looking for someone to help with the horses and carrying out general yard duties. There may be the opportunity to ride dependent upon experience. Based in Monks Eleigh, Suffolk.

Main description

Boyton Hall is a welcoming, relaxed and supportive home for both you and your horse. Set in the idyllic countryside of Monks Eleigh, Suffolk, we offer first class facilities and unparalleled off-road hacking.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work
Boyton Hall is a relaxed and welcoming Equine Centre, caring for horses at all levels. They are looking for an Apprentice Groom to support them in caring for the horses, as well as carrying out general yard duties such as:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out
  • Grooming
  • Clipping
  • Plaiting
  • Lunging

The Centre offers excellent facilities for an apprentice to get an excellent all round experience of working with horses.

There may be the opportunity to ride as part of this role, but this will be dependent upon the successful applicants experience.

On completion of the course, you will gain a recognised Level 2 qualification and the opportunity to progress.

Hours of work will be 5 days out of 7, to include 1 weekend day, and the work hours are between 7.00am and 5.00pm.

Entry Requirements

Desirable qualifications
GCSE in: English (grade 4) and Maths (grade 4)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other information

Boyton Hall does have accommodation available. Livery for your own horse may be available.

Training to be provided

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Equine groom (level 2) Equal to GCSE

Your training plan
On site training is provided by Boyton Hall, with monthly training sessions delivered by your Haddon Training Trainer Coach, on site or delivered remotely.

Future Prospects

Following the completion of the Level 2 Equine Groom qualification, you may be able to progress onto the Level 3 Senior Groom qualification.
Boyton Hall will support with addtional learning and qualifications for the right candidate.
