Suffolk Libraries has worked with volunteers for many years bu the independent and community model has increased the opportunity for volunteers to become involved in many different aspects of the library service. Typically, these roles have been positioned within the library branches. We wish to expand on this, with an exciting new role working behind the scenes at our Stock Unit in Ipswich. With focus on pre-loved and withdrawn stock: books and media. Inherently, community groups and volunteers have not replaced staff, but have helped to develop new services and activities. This project is new and focuses on establishing an alternative and steady income stream, aiming to generate vital funds for Suffolk Libraries, who provide essential services across Suffolk.

Working under the direction of the Book Sales Manager and other key members of the Stock Unit, the role will focus specifically on establishing and building up our online sales inventory via a shop platform. This includes: Training: completing all volunteer online training where required and in-house training on relevant systems specific to this role.
Identifying books and other media to sell, researching and pricing items, cleaning and presenting the books/media in a favourable way,  listing and describing items and posting online, helping create a credible inventory/listing system, assist with picking/packaging/posting of items where required, Keeping accurate records and helping with other duties when time allows.

We are looking for volunteers who are: reliable, have basic IT skills and good team players.  You will be able to work with library staff and other volunteers and be enthusiastic about products, books, music, media, e-listing, pricing, selling. 
Committed to helping the book sales manager with launching and establishing a credible, trustworthy, and successful online shop platform.

You might have suitable experience in either: antiquarian, bookselling or be familiar with online ‘flipping’, but not essential.
