Optimise is a medium sized business offering steam design, installation and maintenance on all steam systems. This incorporates pipefitting and welding. Our unit is based at the Risby Business Park, we also have a medium sized workshop for inhouse fabrications.
Main description
Optimise is a medium sized business offering steam design, installation and maintenance on all steam systems. This incorporates pipefitting and welding. They are currently looking for an apprentice Pipe Fitter Engineer to join and learn within their team.
Position Requirements Outline:
Early start at Unit 7.30am.
Training in the use of :
- 4-inch grinders
- Hand held tube manipulator
- Electrical tube manipulator
- Band saw
- TRG/MMA Welding sets
- Learning fabrication skills
- Learning to understand P&ID schematic drawings
- Learning H and S and risk assessments
Site visits (travelling to and from site is essential to job).
Entry requirements
5 GCSE's to include : Maths Grade 4 above English Grade 4 and above.

Team working
Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
Things to consider
You will be expected to get to the Risby Unit. Travelling to site will be in works van, but be aware long distances maybe required. Overnight stays on larger projects maybe required.
Future Prospects
To grow with in a company that will support and encourage your career. Aim to become a coded welder. Undertake various study days, courses and qualifications in Steam design and systems.
