About us
Community Dental Services CIC (CDS) is a referral only dental service providing dental care for people with complex needs. Our oral health teams provide valuable information on maintaining better oral health in communities across Norfolk and Suffolk. CDS’s patients typically have complex additional needs such as learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues, or are in situations that traditional dental care cannot reach, for example due to homelessness. We are also contracted to provide dental care in some of HM Prisons in Suffolk and Norfolk. We treat child patients, often with very high levels of dental need. CDS provides dental care in peoples’ homes and in mobile dental clinics as well as our clinics.
We are owned entirely by our employees and CDS is a community interest company and social enterprise. Surplus is reinvested into patient care and employee development. Employees are represented through our governance structure to Board level. Our patient satisfaction score in the national benchmark of NHS Friends and Family Survey is consistently 99%.
We prioritise the learning and development of our workforce and we offer early career opportunities to people wanting to work as dentists, dental nurses, hygienists and therapists, as well as clinical administration roles.
It’s never been a more exciting time to join us – we’re having a major impact across the country!

Work with us
Working for CDS offers the opportunity for careers in oral health in a very different environment to traditional high street dentistry. Caring for patients with complex needs or in unusual environments like a prison or a homeless centre takes high levels of skill and determination. Employees are supported from the very early stages of their career through professional training and development opportunities.
