Dark green job

A wind turbine engineer will plan, design, and oversee the build of onshore and offshore wind farms and power plants.  Responsibilities will include analysing the best locations for new sites, researching and designing new wind farms, ensuring projects meet environmental standards, liaising with geologists, geophysicists, and specialist contractors, and managing technicians and other site workers.

You could get started by completing a Level 3 NVQ in electrical power engineering – wind turbine operations and maintenance or take a Level 3 apprenticeship in wind turbine operations and maintenance. 

A degree in Electrical Power engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or renewable energy engineering would be an advantage.

Salary range £20k (entry level) - £80k (experienced)
