Unity and Unreal games engines are primarily used for game development. A developer could use either engine to develop computer games and other interactive 3D graphics. With the rise in gaming there is a bigger demand for game developers to work on building an array of virtual worlds.  However, the engines are not just used for gaming and can be used in other industries such as architectural and automotive visualisation, medicine, aeronautical engineering and linear film and television content creation.

A degree in computer science would be beneficial but is not essential for this role.

You could start off as a games tester, but you will usually need an IT qualification or some relevant work experience.

Salary range £25k (entry level) - £70K (experienced)
