Solar Planning Officers prepare and submit planning applications for solar PV (photovoltaic) projects, namely large arrays of solar panels and solar farms. Solar power is already a contributor to the UKs energy generation mix and is increasingly important in our drive to move away from fossil fuel energy sources, supporting other renewable energy contributors such as wind, tidal and hydro. The role includes providing all required reports and documentation for solar projects, securing permits and authorisation whilst working with government and local authorities as well as community representatives and commercial stakeholders.
To become a Solar Planning Officer you will need a degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning or similar. You will require an in-depth understanding of solar energy projects as well as other alternative renewable undertakings, in addition to the UK planning regulations relevant to such proposals. Project Management will also be key to solving issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Salary range: Starting at £30,000-£40,000
