Solar PV installers are responsible for assembling, installing and maintaining solar panels on buildings and land (solar farms) to efficiently convert solar power into renewable energy. They will also ensure that the wiring systems are safe and efficient. Most of the work will be outdoors and sometimes at height.
Entry routes could be through an apprenticeship or by completing an NVQ or SVQ course in electrical installation
Once you’ve qualified in electrical installation you could go on to train in solar panel installation via a specialist course
If you already have relevant qualifications, you could apply directly to an employer
The expected salary for a solar panel installer varies from £24k to £39k depending on experience
