Dark green job

Solar and Battery Energy Storage Technicians install, commission and maintain battery energy storage systems (BESS) and directly related solar system components.  The storing of solar power (as well as generation) are key long-term elements of our strategy to move from fossil fuel energy generation and concentrate on renewables.  You maybe involved with equipment that stores energy at the source, for example: solar panels, or potentially in the fitting and maintenance or servicing of high-capacity installable lithium-ion batteries in hybrid and electric vehicles or other equipment. You will likely run tests and troubleshoot equipment, keep maintenance records, conduct inspections and write up inspection reports.

To become a Solar and Battery Energy Storage Technician, you will need good passes at GCSE and likely a technically related qualification at college level, though an apprenticeship or other HE level technical course might offer an alternative route.  A degree may help but is not essential.

Salary range £25,000-£35,000
