Dark green job

A heat pump Research and Development Engineer is involved in the development of heat-pumps, and sometimes - depending on the remit of the specific role – other related technologies, such as air-conditioning systems which share similar parts and processes. With domestic heat pumps offering a carbon reduction of up to 70% compared to gas boilers, heat pump installation and related jobs are set to expand rapidly as part of the UKs net zero strategy.  As a heat pump development engineer, you will participate in research, design & development activities, review and improve equipment and processes, build and test new technologies and ensure that the relevant environmental and regulatory information is taken into account.

To become a heat pump Research and Development Engineer, you’ll need relevant qualifications in subjects like mechanical or chemical engineering, likely at HNC/HND or degree level, some experience of product development and sound theoretical and practical knowledge.

Salary range: Starting at £30,000-£40,000
