A Project Development Specialist for battery energy storage systems (BESS) helps to manage battery storage projects from startup to conclusion, often for large scale BESS related to renewable energy generation and infrastructure. Work often entails completing planning and permit documents and processes, including consent applications, and interacting with local communities and government agencies to fulfil legal and social commitments that enable the project. You might be involved in budgetary considerations, talking to suppliers and managing environmental concerns and requirements.
To become a Project Development Specialist you will need a range of skills and experience from project management to influencing and persuasion, to presentation skills and budgeting. You will need a relevant degree level qualification in a subject like Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering and will need good knowledge of existing and emerging BESS technologies. Related technical skills courses will also be beneficial.
Salary range £55,000-£80,000
