Product designers are responsible for creating new products and improving existing ones. They begin by developing ideas using computer design software or by sketching designs and outlining plans. After that, they create prototypes to ensure that the sample is as specified, and then test and refine the designs until they meet the required standards. Additionally, they are responsible for selecting suitable materials or resources, taking into account sustainability principles.
Most product designers have a degree, foundation degree or higher national diploma in subjects such as design, product design, engineering or industrial project design.
Expected salary range £22k (starter - £45k (experienced)
