Offshore crane operators are skilled professionals who operate cranes used in the oil, gas and the offshore wind industries.  The cranes are used to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies between offshore platforms and vessels.  Operators will need to take into consideration weather, sea conditions and current loads and ensure clear communication with deck crew and vessel crew.

To become an offshore crane operator, you will need previous experience operating cranes in a related industry, which could be onshore. 

In addition to experience, you will need a crane operators' certificate from an accredited training provider and offshore safety training.

Many offshore crane operators have a technical education or background such as a degree or certification in engineering mechanics or electronics.

Salary range £25k (starting) - £50k (experienced)
