A Lighting Designer is responsible for designing the lighting for various events and productions, or spaces such as theatres, films, TV shows, concerts, museums, theme parks, and buildings. They use their creative and technical skills to create lighting effects that enhance the mood, ambiance, and visual impact of the space or performance. Sustainable lighting such as LED, is lighting with energy-efficient light sources and will be a key consideration for lighting designers.
You don’t necessarily need a degree for this role but you could take a college course in subjects such as lighting, design and technology, technical theatre, theatre lighting design or electrical engineering.
Salary range £27k to £34k
