Heat Pumps run on electricity and are a low-carbon home heating alternative to gas and oil-fired boilers, they play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions associated with heating.

As a heat pump engineer, you will install, service, and repair low-carbon heating and hot water systems. 

The UK currently only has around 4,000 trained heat pump installers but will need 33,000 by 2028.

Entry routes can be through an apprenticeship in Low Carbon Heating or a college course in a related subject such as plumbing and heating or a T level in Building Services. Once trained as a plumber, heating and ventilation engineer or gas service technician, you can become a heat pump engineer by taking an additional 3–5-day course

The expected salary for a Heat Pump Engineer is £22k to £45k (once qualified)
