Job Description

Fashion Stylists are at the forefront of photo shoots, commercials and fashion shows, they would be required to develop innovative and creative ideas to make the models or celebrities look at their very best with the most up to date fashion trends. They will also have to liaise and have a good relationship with other team members such as photographers, lightening engineers and designers. Fashion Stylists can also be required to liaise with customers on the shop floor by offering a personal shopping service.

Entry Requirements

There are various HNC/HND, BTEC or degree courses available in fashion styling, fashion business, visual merchandising which would be preferable, a passion for fashion is essential. 

You'll usually need 2 to 3 A levels, or equivalent, for a degree.

However, it is possible to become a fashion stylist without a degree or HND providing you can demonstrate creative and practical skills.

Career Tips

Any relevant experience you can get in retail or studio environment with styling products, fashion shoots or personal styling will be valuable to an employer.

It is a good idea if you build a portfolio so you can show examples to the employer.
