Mid green job

A Farm Manager is responsible for day to day running of the farm, they will have various responsibilities including raising animals, tending to crops, planning strategies for maximum yield, organising farm administration, and managing staff.  

They will also need to consider the farm’s environmental impact by promoting sustainable practices and biodiversity as well as monitoring the risk of pollutants from crop protection products.

You could start your career in farming but taking an agriculture related course at college which will give you some of the skills required or you could work towards the role through an advanced apprenticeship in agriculture. 

A degree isn’t essential but is valued and many farm managers hold at least a degree or HND/Foundation degree in agriculture or a related subject.

Salary range £22k (entry level) to over £50k (experienced)
