Mid green job

A control room operator in a power station, plays a key role in managing and ensuring the smooth operations of a control centre.  They will use data from the plant and outside sources to avoid overcapacity or undercapacity and to maximise energy production.  They will also track trends in demand and supply to adjust operations accordingly. Safety is always the top priority and control room operators can see what is happening inside the power station which means they can respond quickly if something goes wrong.

There is no set entry route to becoming a control room operator, but you will need a good standard of literacy, numeracy, and IT skills and relevant experience would be an advantage.   Many employers prefer to train their operators within the context of their specific environment.

Salary range £22k (starting) to £44k (experienced)
