Mid green job

An Air Tightness Testing Engineer uses specialist equipment to measure the amount of air escaping from commercial or domestic buildings. Air tightness optimised buildings reduce energy wastage, heat loss, and draughts, benefiting both the environment and the building’s occupants.  In this role you will employ equipment such as blower doors to record the amount of air leakage in a given space and report back your findings and recommendations for not just how to increase air tightness, but also how to achieve a good balance between that and ventilation.  You might also assess thermal and acoustic performance.

To become an Air Tightness Testing Engineer you will need passes in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) and minimum Level 1 ATTMA airtightness testing certification.  An awareness of design and technology related to construction is key and therefore an engineering or construction degree would help. Apprenticeships may also be available.

Salary range £30,000-£45,000
